The air-cooled Volkswagen Beetle was in production for more than 60 years and has been an automotive icon for over 80. Conceived as an efficient and capable family car, the well-engineered, durable, and humble Beetle went on to become one of the best-selling vehicles ever made and a global staple of mobility. And it was fun, too, particularly as a convertible. During its later years, the revised Super Beetle was released with a substantially reengineered chassis ahead of the passenger compartment, which provided a new front suspension and significantly increased cargo space. Closing a remarkable 30-year U.S. sales run, the 1979 model year was the last for air-cooled Beetles in the United States; all were convertibles. 1979 Volkswagen Super Beetle Convertible is one of the last air-cooled Beetles sold new in the United States. The Volkswagen Super Beetle Convertible was coach built by Karmann. the red paint is original and glossy. She adds that no bodywork has been performed to the car over the past 41 years except for a scuff repair to the right rear fender in 2017. The brightwork and chrome retain a bright luster. there is no rust evident on the bodywork, and the underside is devoid of any damage or signs of exposure to the elements. The convertible top, glass, and lighting all appear to be in excellent condition and are stated to function properly. All seals are noted to be in good condition and weathertight. From 1973-onwards, a Super Beetle is easy to identify by its curved windshield, versus the flat windshield of a standard Beetle
