Originally delivered to Arrow Pontiac in Little Falls, New Jersey, this 1979 International Scout II had just one owner! I took care of some service items and made a few updates during the ownership, but left the truck in this apparently original condition. The Scout II is powered by the 304-cu.in. V-8. Photos show what appears to be a very original engine bay, with original decals still on the air cleaner, and original red paint still on the valve covers, intake, and engine block. The only nonfactory items in evidence under the hood are the replacement air-conditioning hoses and fittings (the truck was converted to R134) and a Fresh Start battery. The engine is coupled to a T-18 four-speed manual transmission and a Dana 20 dual-range transfer case. the paint and graphics are original to the truck, but the door jambs appear to be in the same Burnt Orange color, and there don’t appear to be any obvious tape lines in the door jambs. The paint has a solid shine, and here are no swirl marks or other blemishes. The chrome, trim, and emblems — rare and hardly reproduced — all appear to be in excellent condition, per the photos. The removable hardtop is painted to match the exterior and appears to also be in excellent shape. The seller indicates that the windshield and gasket were both replaced in 2015, and that all of the exterior lighting is functional. The interior on this Scout II appears to be good reference material for what an original, top trim-level Scout II should look like. The black plaid bucket seats look to be in excellent overall condition, with only some slight wear visible on the lower portion of the driver’s-seat back. The passenger’s seat and rear seat both appear to be in near-showroom condition. The carpet is original to the truck, and it appears to have held its color remarkably well. The black dash pad appears to have no cracks, per the photos, and the full-width instrument panel appears to be clear and legible. The gauges are all working. The original radio, replaced with a late-model Pioneer head unit, is included in the sale. The only other deviation from stock is a trailer brake controller mounted under the dash. The truck was equipped with factory power steering, which the seller says has a “normal amount of play at speed.” The suspension has been lifted 3 inches, but the seller provides photos of the original leaf springs, which come along with the sale. The brakes are power-assisted discs up front and drums in the rear. A new brake master cylinder, rear wheel bearings, and front brake rotors. The Scout II rides on 12-hole aftermarket alloy wheels, mounted with BFGoodrich Mud Terrain T/A radials, which the seller says are worn to less than half their remaining tread.
