Here is a really original example of a Silver Shadow Long Wheel Base ("LWB") sedan. Finished in Old Ivory with black Everflex top and red finelines to the waist-rails and beauty rings. The interior has strong contrasting ebony Connolly hides with matching Wilton carpets throughout. The same ebony theme carries through to the boot. The body on this Silver Shadow is very straight and the paint is shiny and lustrous. The car still sports much of its original paint. When you look down the sides of the car, they are very straight and true. The paint presents beautifully with only the most minor little mark here and there from use but consistent with a low-mileage car. It does display some of the typical paint cracking in the lead-wiping areas of the car (A & C pillars) which is common to not a few, but ALL original Silver Shadows. (Rolls-Royce used a process of 'lead-wiping" to join body panels, so with the different metallurgic properties of lead, steel, and aluminium, the over-lying paint would fracture in these places). It needs nothing other than a wax from time to time. The Everflex top is its original from the factory. It does have a couple of small moisture bubbles at the leading and rear edges of the roof top but these are minor and in our opinion the overall clean presentation of the Everflex, and the fact it is original, far outweighs this. The interior of this Silver Shadow is in simply delightful condition. The black Connolly hide leather is 100% original from the factory. It has been recently and ever-so=lightly re-Connolised and is in absolutely outstanding condition with no tears nor fading and very supple and soft – true to its Connolly characteristics. The leather really has been lovingly preserved, remains incredibly soft and supple (not like the card-board feel of many Silver Shadows) and has just the right amount of patina with lovely leather creases and folds. The burr walnut wood throughout the car is beautiful. They are all completely original and have not been redone. Although not flawless (not a word you can use flippantly) but in excellent condition with only minor imperfections on the front door cappings, showing the typical hairline cracks in the clear veneer as most of these cars display. There are also a few on the main dash area. Certainly stunning for a 45 year old Rolls-Royce and quite acceptable as is. The colour is deep, the grain rich and the finish smooth. The soft grey pure wool broad-cloth head lining is all original and in fantastic condition without any stains or soiling. Likewise, is the Ambla finish to the dash and top-roll. The matching black Wilton wool carpets are in excellent condition and in a nice "unused" condition. The boot (trunk) carpet with the same theme is also in great condition. The tyres are brand new Cooper whitewalls which are well tested tyre for Silver Shadows. The hubcaps are excellent with no noticeable imperfections. All remaining bright-work is in good condition. All electrics have been checked right down to the smallest and insignificant dash and courtesy light. Under the bonnet, the presentation is amazing. The previous owner was very meticulous in presentation for shows. Everything is factory original in presentation and presents extremely well. You must take the time to look at the photos of the engine bay as its presentation is like that of only a 10 year old example. Simply stunning! The car is of very high standard and is another 10 out of 10 driver rating !
