This 1974 Porsche 914 2.0 is one of an estimated 17,012 examples of the firm’s innovative mid-engined sports car produced that year, this one fitted with the larger of two horizontally opposed four-cylinder engines that were offered. It’s described as a rust-free example from Arizona that’s in “above-average driver quality” condition, with a repaint that’s said to be five years old, and riding on desirable Mahle aftermarket alloy wheels. Recent mechanical work is reported to have included an alternator replacement and oil service by a marque specialist. Its odometer reading is believed to be accurate. This 914 is powered by a 1,971-cc air-cooled, horizontally opposed four-cylinder engine. With a compression ratio of 7.6:1, the engine received its fuel mixture via Bosch fuel injection and was rated by the manufacturer at 91 horsepower. The engine in this 914, and its five-speed manual transmission, are both said to be original to the car, with no rebuild histories other than routine maintenance. The engine is reported to start “immediately” without smoke, and the transmission is said to shift smoothly, with no powertrain leaks noted. The engine bay presents as stock and strongly clean. the paint on the 914’s matching-numbers Karmann body panels is about five years old, in a correct 1974 factory color. The body seals are in good condition, and lists minor scratches as the only body blemishes. As to rust, highlights a pinhole-sized spot in the rear trunk floor, but adds that the underbody is “solid” and free of corrosion. The car’s bumpers and fascia appear to be in very good, undamaged condition. The removable center section of the hardtop is reported to be in good condition and to operate properly. The glass is said to be in good condition, and all the lighting is operable. The underside is generally clean, with light corrosion visible on the exhaust system. the leatherette interior seat facings look to be in good condition, with no tears or other damage. The carpeting is reported to be in good condition. The padded dashboard shows no cracks or other damage, and appears to have complete trim, all seemingly in good condition. The forward and rear trunks both present as strongly clean.
