This 1972 Chevrolet C30 one-ton dually with a service box might appear to have been an old workhorse, but this reportedly rust-free truck has always been used for recreation. The original 350-cu.in. V-8 engine was replaced with a 350-cu.in. Vortec EFI unit from a 1996 Chevy C30. The engine had approximately 30,000 miles on it when installed and has seen another 16,000 miles since then. He adds that the engine starts easily with the electronic fuel injection and doesn’t smoke or leak. The 4L80E four-speed automatic transmission was overhauled and modified with trailer towing upgrades 16,000 miles ago. A high-capacity transmission pan and engine/transmission oil coolers were part of the upgrades. The truck was painted Hugger Orange in 2000 and the service box/bed was repainted in 2012. No rust repairs were needed and rust preventative was used on appropriate areas during the refurbishment, the truck has always resided in either California or Arizona. He says the paint quality is “good for its age,” and notes some chips and scratches, and that some touchup work was done in the bed and around the back window. The seller says all the glass is original, except for the back window, and all the seals, except the windshield, were replaced and are in good condition. The front bumper was chromed and the badging came from a 1996 C30. The service box/bed is set up for a fifth wheel hitch and there is a 100-gallon gas tank in the bed. The truck also has a receiver hitch. The truck has a custom cover for both the cab and bed. Newer bucket seats and a center console were added in 2000 during the truck’s refurbishment. There are no rips or cracks and the seats function as expected. The steering column and wheel came from a 1996 Chevy C30. The glovebox ID sticker indicates the truck was originally ordered with air conditioning and tinted glass. The air conditioning and heater both work, per the seller. An AM/FM/CD stereo from Custom Auto Sound supplies the musical entertainment. The truck has an electronic speedometer and an electric trailer brake controller mounted in the cab. Power steering was added when the truck was refurbished, so it has 16,000 miles of use. New shocks were installed during the upgrade. the suspension components are in good condition. The one-ton dually wheels were powder coated to match the body color and the tires have good tread remaining.
