The car is reportedly rust-free and has had one respray of the original Shadow Gray exterior color. Its original LT-1 350 engine, however, has been replaced with a 383-cu.in. crate engine, which is backed by a five-speed manual gearbox. This 1970 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 RS “is a restomod so fun to drive that you will not just make it your weekend warrior, you’ll find excuses to drive it whenever you can,” says the seller. Under the hood, is a recently installed 383-cu.in. crate V-8 engine with aluminum heads, an aluminum intake manifold, and a four-barrel carburetor, along with long-tube headers that flow into a 2.5-inch FlowMaster exhaust system. The engine reportedly makes approximately 500 horsepower and has about 2,500 miles on it. The seller notes it “starts easily with a couple of pumps of the gas pedal, and runs very well,” without smoke or leaks. It is reportedly paired with a Tremec five-speed manual transmission that transfer’s the 383’s torque to a 12-bolt, Posi-equipped rear axle featuring 3.73 gears. The seller notes the transmission’s overdrive gear helps the car cruise at 80 mph at 2,500 rpm — and that the cooling system is stout enough to maintain a 190-degree Fahrenheit temperature in 95-degree weather. According to the seller, this Camaro was repainted the original Shadow Gray about 20 years ago and the paintwork remains in good condition. A few paint bubbles are noted on the roof and there is a scratch on the rear spoiler, but they are the only noted blemishes. The exterior trim and chrome also appear to be in good condition, although the bumpers reportedly wear their original chrome finish, which shows some pitting. Additionally, the glass is said to be “very nice,” with no reported cracks or chips. Similarly, the door and trunk seals are reported in good condition, and all of the exterior lights are functional. “The car has never had rust,” claims the seller. This Camaro’s black vinyl interior appears to be in very good condition, with minimal visible wear in the seat covers and carpet. The headliner also is reported to be in good shape, along with the door panels and dash pad. The original console has been removed and a pair of aftermarket gauges hang below the dashboard in its place. All of the gauges are said to be functional, along with the heater and the original clock. The car also retains its original AM radio, but it reportedly does not work. Apart from the removed console, the rest of the cabin’s trim is said to be intact and in good condition. The chassis and suspension have been reportedly well maintained and upgraded with select components designed to enhance performance and the car’s stance, per the seller. He notes that the suspension was revamped in 2017, with upgraded springs, shocks, bushings, and upper control arms. The brakes reportedly were also redone in 2017, and are said to “perform well.” The car has power steering and power front disc/rear drum brakes, and it rolls on factory-style steel five-spoke wheels wearing BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. The wheels are said to be free of curb rash, and the tires reportedly are four years old and show “very good” remaining tread depth.
