Description

The first-generation Chevrolet Camaro appeared in Chevrolet dealerships in September 1966 for the 1967 model year on a brand-new rear-wheel drive GM F-body platform and was available as a 2-door, 2 plus 2 seat, hardtop (no ''B'' or center pillar) or convertible, with the choice of either a straight-six or V8 engine. The first-generation Camaro was built through the 1969 model year. Black vinyl door panels looking like they just rolled out of the factory show nicely and have shiny actuators and a single crank for the glass. Sleek high back buckets with tall headrests are in front, and a bench is in the back. The seats are in good condition and a center console is seen running between the buckets. It has a padded armrest which is also the door to a storage area, dual cup holder and some wood grain surrounding the Hurst shifter. The dash is looking original as well with deep inset square bezel gauge panels with round gauges within these panels The original steering wheel is on and there is an aftermarket tachometer mounted to the column on drivers left. The angled dash is all black and below is a trio of aftermarket gauges mounted to a chromed panel. A newer retro style digital radio is now installed and now sports a wood panel surround. Nice clean back carpeting in on the floors and above is a black headliner which remains nice and tight. A shout out to the trunk which has the plaid liner and a multi disc CD changer. Under the hood is a like new orange/red painted block 402ci V8 which has a .060 over bore. It is not original to the car, but it has only 850 miles since it was rebuilt and put in. There is a 4-barrel carburetor on top and a Muncie M20 4-speed manual transmission on back (ca.1964/65). The rear is a 12-bolt 3.31 posi which is numbers matching to this car. All shined up under this hood, chromed valve coverings a like new radiator and the sealed air cleaner hood all is looking great. The 402 cuber fired right up and off to the test track I sped. It's hard not to speed in this beauty as it has plenty of power, smooth shifting, and good handling. Braking was bias free on the panic stop test which I always do first! All functions worked as well and good as this car looks and runs.
