Based on the fifth character in the VIN, this Mustang was delivered new with Ford’s A-code, 289-cu.in. V-8, which carried a 225-hp rating from the factory, along with a Borg-Warner T-10 wide-ratio four-speed manual transmission. The original engine has been significantly upgraded including .030-inch overbore, 10.0:1 TRW pistons, an Iskenderian hydraulic racing camshaft, Melling high-volume oil pump, Mallory distributor, and a Carter AFB four-barrel carburetor atop a Shelby high-rise intake manifold. Other components installed as part of the performance upgrade of this Mustang include nickel-plated Try-Y headers, a GT350-style finned and baffled 7.5-quart oil pan, and much more. The transmission has a Shelby nodular iron case, Centerforce clutch, and Hurst shifter. Numerous dress-up items and a four-row aluminum radiator are also present. The rear end is equipped with 3.25:1 gearing. The exhaust has been upgraded with a Walker 2-inch dual low-restriction muffler set. The paint on this Mustang is said to date to 1980 with the car covered and garaged in its California home since when not in use. The vinyl seating, carpeting, and headliner are all in “excellent” condition, with no visible evidence of tears or soiling. Performance-oriented interior upgrades include a Shelby tachometer and Stewart-Warner engine gauges, with all instruments reported to be functional, including the original AM pushbutton radio. Racing-style lap belts have been installed.
