Description

Equipped with a V-8 engine and a column-shifted three-speed manual transmission, this 1965 Ford F-100 Custom Cab was reportedly the pride and joy of the farmer who purchased it new. It appears to be in nicely refurbished condition, with one repaint in its history, and an upgraded interior. The 352-cu.in. V-8 was the top of the line for the F-100 in 1965. The engine is original to the truck and has never been rebuilt during its 52,000 miles, which he believes to be accurate, and that it was recently equipped with a new carburetor. The engine bay appears to be in original condition, with original paint still applied to the valve covers and engine block. The air cleaner has been replaced with an aftermarket unit. The transmission is a Ford three-speed manual, shifted on the column, that “runs through the gears perfectly,” with no binding or other issues. the truck was painted once in its history and rates the paintwork as an “8 out of 10,” while pointing out some minor chips in the paint, but nothing terribly noticeable. The bright grille, turn signal trim, mirrors, side spears, and taillamp lenses all appear to be in excellent condition, with no visible damage or pitting in the photos. The front bumper appears to be in excellent, original condition, with no visible rust or dents. The rear bumper has been replaced with a chrome step and tow bumper with provisions for a hitch ball. The windshield has been recently replaced, but that the other glass is original and in good condition. He mentions that all of the exterior lighting is functional. The seat upholstery, a replacement cover with vinyl around the sides and shoulder area, embossed with the 1965 Ford emblem, appears to be in excellent condition, per the photos. The seat back and seat bottom are upholstered in velour cloth, which was not available per the 1965 Ford F-100 brochure. The door panels — inset into the steel doors — appear to be in excellent condition, with no apparent damage to the vinyl or the armrests. The dash is painted what appears to be the original red, and shows no damage to the painted surfaces. The engine-turned aluminum instrument panel appears to be in very good shape. The chrome finish has worn from the fuel and temp gauge bezels, and all of the gauges are functional. The heat and fan are fully functional. The floor is protected by a woven-appearing vinyl mat, which looks good in the photos, and the seller reports that the headliner is in good condition. The truck has manual steering, which is “tight and has no wandering.” The coil-spring front and leaf-spring rear suspension is reportedly original. The brakes are manual with a single reservoir, operating drum brakes at all four corners. The wheels have been replaced with 15-inch American Racing alloy wheels, mounted with Cooper Cobra Radial G/Ts, sized 235/70R15 with date codes from 2020, that have approximately 500 miles since new.
