This car’s 426-cu. in. “Street Wedge” V-8 is reported to have been rebuilt! The stock block and heads remain. Modifications include a Crane roller camshaft, Mopar Performance pistons, a cross-ram style intake manifold with dual Edelbrock 600-cfm carburetors, Ceramic-coated Hedman headers, Dynomax dual exhaust, and more. the engine, rated at 365 horsepower when new, puts out 450 horsepower now. the engine has a reliable cold start, with no smoke, and a 1,000-rpm idle speed. The car’s four-speed manual transmission has also been rebuilt and shift properly, with no unusual noises . The car has a Sure Grip limited-slip differential, also rebuilt, and 3.23:1 final drive ratio. The Polara’s paint is described as “excellent,” with some blemishes on the stainless-steel trim noted. The replacement front bumper is fiberglass, and its chrome is showing a slight discoloration. The windshield has a noticeable chip and a few lamination flaws indicated. No issues with the other glass. The Max Wedge-style functional dual-scoop hood was added at the same time as the engine rebuild. The convertible top is described as “like new,” with a clear rear window. The Dodge’s chassis restoration reportedly included new tie rods, tie-rod ends, ball joints, KYB shocks, and all-new bushings. The Torque Thrust II wheels wear Goodyear Eagle tires that are 18 years old, with only about 2,500 miles since the rebuild. The car also gained a Wilwood front disc brake conversion, and the unassisted brakes give a firm pedal feel. The unassisted steering box and steering coupler have been rebuilt and that the steering works properly.
