The engine in this BJ7 is said to be the original 2,912-cc inline-six installed at the factory in 1963. The engine has never been removed or rebuilt. It's equipped with rebuilt twin SU carburetors, a refurbished radiator, and new carburetor linkage and bushings. a new valve cover gasket cured any leaks that the engine had. The engine bay is clean and dry and looks very presentable. With the choke fully deployed, and one pump of the accelerator, the engine fires immediately. after 30 to 60 seconds, the choke moves to the half position, and then completely off when the engine hits operating temperature. There's no smoke reported from the exhaust, which is louder than stock, and has been raised to the highest position possible to reduce the chance of contact. The four-speed manual transmission and its overdrive unit have been removed and rebuilt.
