The Triumph TR4 is arguably the archetypal ‘hairy chested’ British sports car. Introduced primarily to increase Triumph’s success in the US market, only 71,000 were produced over a six year period. Mechanically, it shares much with the earlier TR3, but a major change to the TR4 came in the form of the body styled by Giovanni Michelotti. Rack & pinion steering and front disc brakes were welcome improvements as well. Though it caused some controversy upon its release it replaced the previous swoopy shapes for a much squarer look the TR4’s looks have aged very gracefully, with details like the headlamps set inboard of the wings giving it a distinctive face. This TR4 is a very early production model which sported the white enamel dash. The records we have with the car start in 2001, when it lived in Huntsville, AL and sold that year to a new owner who chose to start a frame off restoration. Parts and restoration receipts show the restoration finished in 2005. In 2013, the TR4 found a new owner in Kansas City, KS and has been there until we acquired it just a few weeks ago. We have just finished servicing the TR in our shop which included, tuning, brakes, fluids, and some detailing. This TR4 is equipped with optional factory wire wheels and full tonneau cover. It is an excellent driving car with strong oil pressure and tight steering. If you want a turn key Triumph TR4 that would do well in local shows and spirited drives in the country, then this one is for you!
