The Seville was powered in 1957 by a specialized version of Cadillac’s 365-cu.in. OHV V-8. With dual Carter WCFB four-barrel carburetors and a compression ratio of 10.0:1, the engine was rated by the manufacturer at 325 horsepower when new. The engine in this Seville is said to be original to the car, and about 5,000 miles removed from a 1999 rebuild that also saw the installation of PerTronix electronic ignition and an alternator in place of the generator. An electric fuel pump primes the carburetors (which were rebuilt two years ago), and the engine is reported to start and run without smoke. The Hydra-Matic four-speed automatic transmission is reported to shift smoothly, with a small drip noted. The engine bay presents as being stock and strongly clean. the paint is about 10 years old and in “excellent” condition, with a surface scratch below the trunk lid as the only noted body blemish. The seller reports no leaks inside the passenger compartment and no indications of rust anywhere on the car. The chrome, including the massive bumpers, presents as being in very good condition. The glass and windows are in good shape, and all lighting is functional. The underside shows widely scattered surface corrosion on a few components and presents as being strongly clean. The passenger cabin is fitted with correct brocaded seating surfaces furnished by SMS Auto Fabrics, with the material described as being in “excellent” condition, with no indications of tears or soiling. The carpet appears to be in very good condition, with no visible signs of excess wear. The headliner is in good shape. The heavily chromed dashboard is reported to have all its small controls and trim pieces, and presents very strongly. Te factory instrumentation is operable and augmented by SunPro engine gauges. The seller states the car has been converted to electric windshield wipers. Also, the factory AM radio and speakers are reported to have been refurbished. The power window lifts, factory air conditioning and heater are all reported to be in proper working order. the Seville’s chassis was rebuilt after he purchased it in 1990. The power steering function properly, without leaks. The power drum brakes are in good operating order and have been flushed this year.
