This 1957 Isetta 300 model is powered by a 298-cc single-cylinder engine, which was rated at 13 horsepower when new. Top speed was rated at 53 mph. The consigning dealer believes this Isetta’s engine to be original, and has no knowledge of rebuilds. He says it “starts right up” with no smoke and settles into a steady idle, and he indicates no leaks or weeps. The four-speed manual transmission that the seller says shifts “properly and smoothly.” Called a “bubble car” for obvious reasons, the Isetta was notable for its single large front-opening door and for being just 7.5 feet long and 4.5 feet wide. Although the seller does not know the date of the car’s restoration, he says all areas of the car appear to be rust free, and he is unaware of any previous rust repairs. He rates the paint as 9 out of 10, with no dents and just a few minor chips, which are shown in the photos along with paint meter readings showing uniformity throughout the vehicle. The car has a gray canvas folding sunroof, which is described in “great condition.” All glass is believed to be original and is affirmed to be in “great condition.” Seals are said to be intact, with no dry rot, cracks or leaks observed. “Everything closes up nice and tight,” and all lights are said to work.  The steering wheel and minimalist instrument panel swing out with the door. the door spring is weak and may need replacing. A single bench seat offers room for two. The Isetta’s cabin is like a fuzzy cocoon, and what you see is what you get. The upholstery, trim panels and carpeting appear to be in excellent condition, and the seller says there are no cracks or tears. The speedometer is affirmed to work, as are the door latch and lock. The seat offers some storage below. The 10-inch wheels have no reported issues or vibration. the tires are in "like-new" condition but does not know the tires’ age. Suspension service history is unknown, there are no visible cracks, damage or leaks and that the car rides and handles well. This Isetta is also said to steer straight, at least when it’s not too windy. Brakes are also said to work well.
