The Sedan Delivery, (also sometimes referred to as a Panel Delivery), for the uninitiated, is a relatively obscure body style of a van built on a car chassis. Typically, these take the form of a station wagon body, but with steel panels where the rear windows would be. Historically, sedan deliveries had two doors, but modern versions typically have four. In the beginning, back when it was enough just to have four wheels and an engine, all light duty trucks were essentially sedan deliveries. A Model T with a car body was a car; one with a truck body was a truck. Even up until the 1940's, light duty trucks were basically beefed-up versions of their donor car chassis (Model TT, AA, and BB, continuing the Ford analogy). Painted in a blinding shade of screaming yellow with some 1990's period correct painted side striping and ''Quick Delivery'' nobody will think it's still working for a living. A ton of money has been spent on this project, and while it's a few years old now, the yellow paint still shines up well. Stripped of any side trim but still retaining its Jet-Age hood ornament and cloisonne badges the look of this particular panel delivery is a big part of its appeal. Clean dent free body colored bumpers, a nice-looking Ferrari inspired grille, and the hand painted pinstriping on the hood and tailgate. 15'' polished American Racing Torque Thrust wheels adorn all 4 corners and the whole package screams Delivery!!! When you climb inside, you'll find yourself swept back to 1991. A gray tweed split bench seat sprawls from door to door and floats in a sea of darker gray carpet. This tweed carries over to the more ergonomic than original door panels along with an aluminum handle and cranks. A slick horizontal yellow inlay brightens up all the gray. The dash is a mixture of old and new, with original 1955 gauges augmented by a column mounted tachometer and auxiliary gauges. Cold added A/C helps make this a cruiser you can truly take anywhere. A semi polished aluminum dash insert with a CHEVROLET logo added between the twin fan style of the yellow steel dash gives the right custom touch. A tilt steering column and the 3 spoke leather wrapped steering wheel add a racy look. The cargo area is upholstered on the sides with more gray tweed and yellow horizontal inserts while the cargo floor is done in a nice oak with polished dividers between the boards. The 350 cubic inch V8 power plant already has plenty of chutzpah, it's augmented with a Holley carb, chrome valve covers, chrome air cleaner assembly and plenty of polished aluminum components. It's backed by a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission and 3.73 geared rear axle so it was clearly designed to be driven. All 1955 Chevrolet here, including front coil sprung and rear leaf spring suspension, power disc front brakes and handles better than you'd expect. Some patina but all looking very solid and rust free under here. Dual exhaust is noted snaking its way rearward and passing through a pair of Hushmaster mufflers. A black frame and suspension components are highlighted by rust free floors and rockers all sprayed in body matching yellow.
