Words cannot aptly describe this stunning 1954 Silver Dawn. Finished in 2-tone silver-grey over black with burgundy and black Connolly leather upholstery fashioning everything in show-class condition. The Silver Dawn was Rolls-Royce's first step back into the “luxury” market after World War II in 1949. The Silver Wraith had been the first vehicle released post-war in 1946. With only 760 Silver Dawns produced from 1949-1955, this truly is a rare vehicle. Body and paint is gorgeous with an excellent quality repaint of some 15 years ago. She presents consistently, very smooth and lustrous with only the most very tiny and minor imperfections that are only mentioned out of “disclosure” and as you would reasonably expect for a 15 year-old repaint. The paint truly needs nothing and is show-worthy. She is finished off with red fine lines to the side coach-work in the correct hand painted tradition. Chrome, glass and fittings all present well. The interior is simply stunning having been completely all redone as part of the restoration. All new Connolly leather, all new carpeting, all the wood superbly refinished to the highest of standards that actually exceed factory finish. The head-liner is also new in correct type broad-cloth wool but we remain disappointed it was done in black as opposed to a light colour which would have been the factory choice. Notwithstanding, it is in “brand-new” presentation. The Connolly leather is supple soft without any single mark or imperfection. It can be described as “perfect”. The African burl walnut wood throughout has a very rich and deep grain and presents both flawlessly and stunningly having been refinished by one of America’s leading wood restorers. A modern stereo with auxiliary input and Bluetooth was fitted in more recent years but done in such a way that it could easily be removed with harm showing. Mechanically, the car is superb. She sings like the best should sing and always come to life when called upon. Recently put through Park-Ward's fully appointed facility with anything needing doing attended to. This aside, the car was excellent to commence with. She idles very smooth, powers well, glides gracefully through the automatic transmission and handles the road comfortably and straight. She comes to a stand still true and strong. The tyres on the car are period correct whitewalls cross-plies. The car is of very high standard and is an undisputable 10 out of 10 !
