One of General Motors’ first all-new postwar models, the Chevrolet trucks from 1947-1955 were introduced as the “Advance Design” pickups. The vehicles received minor styling updates throughout the series with the 1954 (and first series 1955) trucks appearing the most changed from the earlier models thanks to a new one-piece curved windshield, a bold new grille, and an improved bed. This bright red 1954 Chevrolet 3100 half-ton pickup is said to be “fully restored”. A 235-cu.in. OHV inline six-cylinder was standard equipment for 1954 Chevrolet 3100 Series half-ton pickups. No specifics were supplied for the engine in this truck. The photos show a Fenton cast-iron split exhaust manifold, so the truck now has a dual exhaust system. The carburetor appears to have a simple aftermarket air cleaner. The photos also show an alternator in place of the original generator and an aftermarket spin-on remote oil filter. The seller says the engine doesn’t leak. The steering wheel appears to be in good condition in the photos. The suspension uses parallel leaf springs front and rear with the front ones attached to an I-beam axle. Drum brakes appear in the photos for all four corners. The seller says the brakes, bushings, shocks and steering are in good condition. The wheels are described as “clean” and tires as “very good”.
