Description

Topped by a four-barrel Quadrajet carburetor atop an Edelbrock intake manifold, the Chevrolet 350 V-8 engine was sourced from Jasper and installed during previous ownership. Power flows to the rear axle to a Monster Transmissions-built GM TH200-4R four-speed automatic transmission. The engine “starts, runs and drives well” with no smoke or other issues noted. A custom dual exhaust runs to the rear while simulated lake pipes provide the proper look. The exterior retains its original roofline for maximum visibility and has custom modifications including flush-mounted headlamps, a frenched power antenna as well as shaved door handles. Covering the all-steel body are six coats of House of Kolor Brandywine and Candy Apple Red paint with scallops separating the two. Functional spotlights are mounted on the original A-pillars and a replacement two-piece tinted windscreen is accompanied by functioning vent wings and rear windows to improve ventilation. The interior features custom Light Gray and Red vinyl upholstery that also envelopes the heavily cushioned bench seats. The red carpeting and dark gray instrument panel contrast the look as this custom 1950 Mercury Eight Coupe retains its original instrument panel with cast-aluminum cladding. Modern Stewart Warner gauges have been added to monitor coolant temperature, oil pressure, battery voltage, and fuel level. A Blaupunkt AM/FM radio broadcasts the tunes and the switchgear for the wipers, turn signals, and lamps are all said to be original and in functional condition.
