This is an extremely rare example of a Chevrolet Canopy Truck, which gained favor in the 40' and 50's for the open back display area which allowed farmers to market fruits, vegetables, and flowers right from the bed. Sometimes referred to as a Huckster Truck, they were a staple in every large to small town. This example combines the charming nostalgic charm of the original 1946 Chevrolet truck with a bevy of upgrades and improvements to make it fit in easily in this modern world. The chassis of the truck is a 1990's Chevrolet 1/2 ton truck frame, which was custom cut and finished to properly support the cab and bed. It was fit with a rebuilt 350ci Tuned Port Injection V8 motor matched to a 700R4 Automatic overdrive transmission with 12 bolt rear end. The frame was selected because it was just the right size for the original owner/builder to add a 14 inch extension to the cab, complete with side windows, to allow for substantially more room for driver and passenger. The GM bucket seats include 6-way power driver control with power lumbar, and manual passenger seat adjustments, both with folding armrests! The cabin is very spacious, and everyone from Santa Claus to Larry Bird could fit inside with ease. Plus, the rear section adds bonus storage perfect for cleaning supplies, car show chairs, or anything else. It has been built with all the best upgrades and components, including Vintage Air heating and cooling, Power Steering, Power Brakes, AM/FM/CD audio, tilt steering column, Stewart Warner full gauge array, and electric windshield wipers. The body of the truck is incredibly straight and clean, and the era-correct black and green finish shines beautifully from all angles with less than a handful of minor marks like a stone chip or small scuff to be found. Canopies are solid and clean, and all snaps work to hold them in place. The tool boxes are fully functional for storage, but will need re-keyed by the new owner for locking use. The interior is free of any stains, rips, tears, or damage, and the engine bay is clean and easily accessible thanks to the dual side opening hood panels. The truck starts, runs, idles, and performs wonderfully. Power is smooth and sure without any stutter or stumble thanks to the fuel injection system. Transmission shifts cleanly and smoothly as well, and the brakes are sure and strong without any chatter or soft pedal feel. It can easily be driven at highway speeds, and tracks the road wonderfully thanks to the wider stance of the modern truck chassis beneath it. All of the lights and wipers work as they should, and there are no known issues with the truck at this time. I have personally put about 48 miles on the truck as of this listing, and it really makes passerby smile when you drive by. Most have never seen a canopy truck, and those that have recall with fondness a memory from days gone by that was rekindled from seeing it.
