With war-time production ending in 1946, Cadillac was ready to resume automobile production, and demand was high for the only available cabriolet body style for the Series 62.  Cadillac had few styling changes for 1946, since the design was so successful before the war ceased car manufacturing.  The only changes in first post-war Series 62 included the location and shape of the driving lights and a front logo with the Cadillac crest within a large V.  This iconic Series 62 convertible has all the options available for the 1946 model: full hubcaps, dual side mirrors, windshield washers, backup light, power windows and power seat. The optional Hydra-matic transmission shifts smoothly and easily. Seat belts were added by the last owner, as were radial tires. The new tan canvas convertible top is hydraulic and it goes up and down nicely and without hesitation. This lovely Cadillac has been under the same family stewardship since 1991. It has been expertly maintained all that time. Detailed records show a complete engine rebuild at 64,000 miles using the original pistons. New rod bearings, main bearings, cam bearing, water pump, carburetor, valve, transmission, master cylinder, wheel cylinders, brakes, starter and generator were installed. Subsequently, during regular maintenance, all systems have been replaced or maintained including hoses and manifolds. Fluids have been changed regularly. The car rides on Yokohama radial tires installed approximately 2,500 miles ago. As for the exterior, it gleams in black. The beautiful burgundy leather interior features tan cord accents, and the carpets are burgundy plush.  All gauges are bright and clean and all work except the gas gauge. The radio turns on but is not working at this time.  The oil filter, electric fuel pump, regulator, and fuel filter are in place. Wiring has been replaced and is excellent. A battery cut-off has been installed. The chrome brightwork is in excellent condition. This includes the massive chrome grill, which is in great condition with none of the usual pitting. All body panels are straight, and the glass is clear with no delamination. The engine compartment is unusually clean and tidy for a car that has been used on a regular basis during good weather. The undercarriage appears to be original with no unusual wear.
