Description

This 1937 Chevrolet ½-ton pickup is described being in “driver condition, with a solid steel body,” which apparently received a refurbishment, including new paint. Believed to be largely original mechanically, the pickup, one of 64,420 produced in 1937, is said to be in good operating order, retaining its 6-volt electrical system. The 1937 Chevrolet light trucks were powered by the 216.5-cu.in. OHV straight-six. With an initial compression ratio of 6.25:1 and a single downdraft carburetor, the engine was rated by the manufacturer at 78 horsepower when new. The seller believes this pickup’s engine to be original, with no stated rebuild history. He reports that it starts and runs “smoothly,” without smoke, and that the three-speed manual transmission, with synchromesh on the top two gears, shifts “smoothly.” The seller says a “mist of oil emits from the breather and rocker-cover vent.” The engine bay presents as being stock and generally clean, per the provided photos. The age of this truck’s paint is unknown, but the seller notes only a few chips, along with popcorn-type blistering along the lower edges of both doors. The cab seals’ effectiveness is unknown, because the seller says the truck is never driven in rain. He adds that the truck shows evidence of prior rust repair. The cargo bed shows no damage and appears to have an upgraded wooden floor and hardware. The seller reports that any damaged glass was replaced, with the windshield now lightly tinted. All lighting, including added turn indicators and fog lamps, is reported to be functional. The underside presents as being generally clean with scattered light corrosion visible in the photos. The vinyl seat facings appear to be in very good condition, with no visible tears or other damage. There is no carpet, and the cab floors look to be solid. The headliner is reported to be in sag-free shape. The seller says the instrumentation is functional. the knee-action shock absorbers’ fluid has been replaced, and he notes no issues with the hydraulic drum brakes and states they will lock the rear wheels. The tires are said to be “brand new.”
