A classic example of a prewar American ½-ton pickup, this 1936 Chevrolet Model FB is said to be a thoroughly documented vehicle that is believed to have undergone a full body-off restoration in the late 1960s or early 1970s, including an apparent refinishing in lacquer paint. The truck is reported to have undergone further refurbishment around 2007, including engine work and replacement of its transmission with a correct three-speed manual unit. Said to have spent much of its life in California, the pickup is described as still being strongly presentable. The 1936 Model FB was powered by Chevrolet’s 207-cu.in. OHV straight-six. With a compression ratio of 6.0:1 and a downdraft Carter carburetor, the engine was rated by the manufacturer at 72 horsepower when new. The seller says this truck’s engine has its original block, and he reports that it has received a new cylinder head, with valves and springs, along with a new carburetor and rebuilt starter during work performed after 2007. A replacement rebuilt and correct three-speed manual transmission is reported to have been installed at the same time. The seller says the U-joint assembly and transmission crossmember are also replacements. The seller reports no functional issues, no smoke, and no powertrain leaks. The engine bay presents as being stock and strongly clean in the provided photographs. This truck is believed to have been refinished in lacquer during the early 1970s at the latest. The finish was reportedly damaged when logos were removed from the cab doors. The seller reports that the cab seals are in “excellent” condition, saying the FB has minimal rust. The chrome, including both bumpers, looks to be in very good condition. The grille shows no damage. The cargo bed shows chipping and cracks in the wooden bed floor. The seller reports that the crank-out windshield and rear glass were replaced after 2007 and remain in good condition. All lighting is said to be functional. The underside appears to be generally clean with scattered surface corrosion visible in the photos. The seat vinyl is said to date to 2007 and is described as being in “perfect” condition. The cab floors appear to be solid. The headliner is said to have been replaced with a fiberglass unit painted to match the interior. The seller reports that the dashboard was stripped and repainted in 2007, and remains in “very good” condition, with properly functioning instruments. An aftermarket audio system uses speakers mounted under the seat, and the heater is termed functional. The wheels and tires are described as being in “excellent” condition.
